Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women, inaugurated the first phase of Baheya Sheikh Zayed Hospital. The ceremony was attended by Engineer Tamer Shawky, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baheya Foundation; Mrs. Laila Salem, Board Member and granddaughter of Baheya; Dr. Gilan Ahmed, Executive Director of the Foundation; Dr. Nabila Makram, former Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs; Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare; Deputy Governor of Giza Hind Abdel Halim; and a group of prominent Egyptian society figures, partners, and Baheya warriors.

In her speech, Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj emphasized that Egypt has a strong civil society serving various sectors, especially health. She highlighted that the services provided by the Baheya Foundation to Egyptian and Arab women deserve support from all community segments.

Dr. Al-Kabbaj toured the first phase of the hospital, inspecting its capabilities, including advanced equipment, services offered, and clinics for early detection, surgery, treatment, and psychological support units.

The first phase of the hospital includes two units for early detection and clinics aimed at reducing the pressure on Baheya Hospital in Haram, which has reached its full capacity.

The Baheya Foundation was established in 2015 through the Haram Hospital, which consists of five floors and equipment valued at about 150 million EGP.

Since the establishment of the center, a total of 2,953,011 cases have been handled, with 93,177 cases receiving chemotherapy, 227,354 cases receiving radiotherapy, and 16,169 surgical operations performed.

Dr. Mohamed Amara highlighted that completing the construction of Sheikh Zayed Hospital and opening its first phase in just 1,000 days is a significant achievement, accelerated by the contributions of Baheya's partners.

Engineer Tamer Shawky, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baheya Foundation, mentioned that the second phase of Baheya Sheikh Zayed Hospital will be inaugurated by the end of this year and will be fully completed by next year.

Dr. Gilan Ahmed, the Executive Director of the Foundation, explained that the Sheikh Zayed Hospital aims to serve four times the current number of women from Egypt and the Arab world.

The Sheikh Zayed Hospital covers an area of 34,000 square meters with a building consisting of eight floors, divided into five above-ground and three underground, equipped to receive 500,000 women annually. This exceeds the 200,000 women who could be accommodated over five years, thus helping reduce waiting lists and providing reassurance to more women in Egypt.
