Baheya Foundation Welcomes Delegation from WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean

On Tuesday, April 22nd 2025, Baheya Foundation welcomed a delegation from the World Health Organization's Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO EMRO) for a visit to Baheya Center in Haram. The visit aimed to provide the delegation with a comprehensive understanding of the foundation’s integrated system for breast cancer patient care and women’s health empowerment.

On Tuesday, April 22nd 2025, Baheya Foundation welcomed a delegation from the World Health Organization's Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO EMRO) for a visit to Baheya Center in Haram. The visit aimed to provide the delegation with a comprehensive understanding of the foundation’s integrated system for breast cancer patient care and women’s health empowerment.

The visiting delegation comprised esteemed WHO experts, including Dr. Lamia Mahmoud, Regional Adviser on Noncommunicable Disease Prevention and Cancer Control, Dr. Mohamed Afifi, Regional Adviser of Women’s Health, Dr. Nahla Gafer, Palliative Care Consultant, and Dr. Heba AlSawahli, Consultant on Meaningful Engagement of People with Lived Experience with Noncommunicable Diseases.
The delegation was warmly received by Baheya Foundation’s leadership and hospital management team, including Eng. Maged Hamdy, Board Member of Baheya Foundation, Dr. Jaylan Ahmed, CEO of Baheya Foundation, Dr. Mohamed Emara, CEO of Baheya Hospitals, Dr. Amgad Hashem, CEO of Baheya Haram Center, Dr. Maher Hassan, Head of the Surgery Department, Dr. Amany Helal, Head of the Oncology Department, Dr. Yomna Sherif Omara, Patient Navigation Program Manager, and Eng.Hanaa Serry, International Relations and Agreements Officer.
During their visit, the delegation gained valuable insights into Baheya’s integrated care system, encompassing early detection, clinical treatment, psychosocial support, and research activities withing Baheya Research Center and Training Center. Members of the medical and administrative teams accompanied the visitors on a detailed tour of the foundation’s various departments.
The visit included a presentation highlighting the foundation’s significant achievements in supporting the objectives of the WHO Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI). Special emphasis was placed on the psychosocial support department, the Patient Navigation Program, and the impactful research conducted at Baheya Research Center.
The delegation members expressed their profound appreciation for Baheya’s dedicated efforts in delivering comprehensive, people-centered healthcare. They underscored the critical importance of aligning with the goals of the Global Breast Cancer Initiative and offered valuable feedback to further enhance Baheya’s services in the future. In addition to the potential of knowledge exchange with civil society organizations and Member States in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.

Notably, Baheya Foundation is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, marking a decade of remarkable success, expansion, and unwavering commitment to women's health and the fight against breast cancer. As Baheya continues to advance its medical services and strengthen its partnerships, this significant visit from the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean stands as another important milestone in the foundation’s ongoing mission to provide comprehensive and compassionate healthcare to breast cancer fighters.
