United Bank Signs Cooperation Protocol with Baheya Foundation

United Bank, under the leadership of Ashraf El-Qady, signed a cooperation protocol with the Baheya Foundation on the sidelines of the People and Banks Conference in its sixteenth edition.
The signing ceremony was attended by Lamees Najm, Advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for Corporate Social Responsibility, and Leila Salem, a member of the Board of Trustees and granddaughter of Baheya.
The protocol stipulates that United Bank will continue to provide social support to the Baheya Foundation through financial and moral support. Additionally, Baheya Foundation, one of the largest charitable organizations providing free breast cancer treatment for women, will conduct regular early detection screenings for United Bank's female employees according to quality standards.
Baheya Hospital will provide necessary treatment for cases confirmed by United Bank, offering a special discount for additional services such as radiology and various types of tests within the hospital premises. Baheya Foundation will also organize seminars and workshops to raise awareness among United Bank's female employees about breast cancer prevention methods, including self-examination. Emphasizing the importance of early and regular screening for women, which contributes to promoting healthcare and reducing the incidence of the disease.
Commenting on the signing of the community partnership protocol, Engineer Tamer Shawky, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baheya Foundation, expressed his satisfaction with collaborating with United Bank.
On the sidelines of the protocol signing, Shawky explained that Baheya Foundation is a model for civil society and economic institutions' collaboration in the country, within the framework of community participation efforts aimed at highlighting breast cancer among women, especially with the increasing annual cases and the need to provide healthcare and societal awareness. He expressed optimism about the completion of Baheya Sheikh Zayed Hospital, a significant humanitarian institution, and anticipated the free treatment of cancer patients, easing their pain.
He added that the healthcare provided by Baheya Foundation is of the highest quality, and the hospital management adopts a new, advanced approach aiming to deliver the best quality to citizens. Furthermore, the transfer of expertise in training, development, and interactive education is also part of their mission.
Leila Salem, a member of the Board of Trustees and granddaughter of Baheya, affirmed that the foundation always seeks to strengthen communication with its partners and values the partnership and cooperation of United Bank for its significant role in supporting Baheya and its mission's success, ensuring it remains steadfast behind every Egyptian woman.
She added that this collaboration holds special significance as it coincides with the countdown to the opening of Baheya Sheikh Zayed, expected in 2023, welcoming the first woman in the early months of the year. This positively contributes to Baheya's mission, allowing further work towards the success of Baheya Sheikh Zayed to continue the legacy of Baheya Haram's success.
Lamees Najm, Advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for Corporate Social Responsibility, stated that the protocol represents a model for the banking sector's commitment to supporting the health system and its services for Egyptian citizens through a developmental strategy and community partnerships with civil society institutions to support the implementation of health projects and provide better health services under the leadership of the Central Bank of Egypt.
She emphasized that health equals a full life, laden with hope and humanity, urging unified efforts to contribute to meeting the priorities of sustainable development, leading to tangible and direct impacts on citizens' health.
Najm highlighted the banking sector's keenness, under the leadership of the Central Bank of Egypt, on healthcare projects such as hospitals and health centers as an urgent priority in the new republic. This contributes to improving services for citizens and providing greater opportunities to enhance the quality of healthcare services.
