Application and Data Analyst
As an application and data analyst, you will
have face-to-face correspondence with users who need your technical support, as
well as collect and store data on numbers, research, logistics, or other
behaviors. You use your technical expertise to ensure the quality and accuracy
of that data, then process, design and present it in ways to help people, and the
organization make better decisions.
- Administration and monitoring
of software applications.
- Preparing technical
specification as a roadmap for software
- Oversee practices and processes
to ensure integrity and availability of all data and applications as part
of the organization’s information systems.
- Make sure that the processes
needed for the organization to function and succeed are running smoothly,
acting as a technical point of contact to fix application and systems
issues - usually on an immediate basis, by investigating and diagnosing
system faults and application errors and resolving technical issues.
- Monitoring and responding to
requests for support.
- Following up routine system
backups, upgrades and installation of new releases
- Providing instructions and training
to staff in using applications
- Analyzing error trends aimed at
reducing or minimizing down time
- Communicating messages
regarding systems issues to users promptly
- Liaising with software
suppliers to fulfil the requirements of the organization
- Scheduling, assessing and
running regular tests and implementing new or upgraded software and
assisting with strategic decisions on new systems to enhance the current
systems and applications
- Identifying and developing
- Maintaining documentation of
key databases and linked applications.
- Problem resolution in both the long
and short term
- Implementation and integration of
- Identifying organizational need
for new applications, and could be involved in the design and development
of existing and new applications
- Managing data set, including
creation, updates, and deletion, developing reports, and troubleshooting
- Managing users and user roles.
- Provide quality assurance of
- Processing confidential data
and information according to guidelines.
- Helping develop analysis
- Managing and designing the
reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata
- Supporting the data warehouse
in identifying and revising reporting requirements.
- Supporting initiatives for data
integrity and normalization.
- Generating reports from single
or multiple systems.
- Troubleshooting the reporting
database environment and reports.
- Evaluating changes and updates
to source production systems.
- Training end users on new
reports and dashboards.
- Providing technical expertise
on data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.
You will be expected to attend regular internal
and external meetings, providing updates on the progress of your task and to
present to users the application solutions you are proposing.
The job involves working on multiple projects at
any time, often within a team.
Qualifications / Requirements
degree in computer science.
technical skills are essential as is knowledge of applications and
languages such as the below:
to keep knowledge up to date, as this is a fast-paced environment and new
applications are being introduced constantly
to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
to relay technical information to non-technical users
ability to establish rapport with stakeholders
ability to work independently but also as a part of a team
to work to deadlines and give realistic estimates
fine eye for detail
experience as a data analyst or in related field, and deep understanding
of the popular data analysis tools and databases are plus
to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution
experience in methodologies and processes for managing large-scale
experience in handling large data sets and relational databases.
